When Collin Gillespie initially signed a two-way contract with the Phoenix Suns, he was joining a team that was still sorely lacking at the point guard position. Since then, the Suns went out and added Monte Morris to address the backup point guard spot...and then managed to land Tyus Jones on a veteran minimum deal for the starting job.
There are obviously no guarantees for any player on a two-way deal, but Gillespie has quietly become an intriguing player to kick off our 2024-25 Suns season previews. The reason? He's capable of dominating the G League (which would help the Valley Suns in their first season), but he's probably too good for that environment.
