Do the Phoenix Suns‘ rookies have a realistic path to minutes during the 2024-25 NBA season? On the latest PHNX Suns Podcast, Gerald Bourguet and Stephen Pridgeon-Garner give their thoughts on Suns rookies Ryan Dunn and Oso Ighodaro, including their strengths, weaknesses and what their roles might look like in Phoenix in Year 1.
For Dunn, his defensive strengths are pretty clear, but they’re worth diving into in full detail to understand just how special he can be on that end. However, his 3-point shot is still a work-in-progress, and it will still take time to become serviceable at the NBA level.
As for Oso Ighodaro, his patented push shot and playmaking are clear benefits, as are his screen-setting and rim-running as an above-the-rim lob threat. But will his lack of spacing hurt him, and will he get an opportunity to carve out a role behind Jusuf Nurkic and Mason Plumlee?
After that, it’s time to break down the games of two-way contracts Collin Gillespie, TyTy Washington and Jalen Bridges before the show turns its attention to updates from Suns training camp, including what Bradley Beal had to say about the Suns rookies and the team’s renewed energy, as well as Damion Lee giving his thoughts on his first couple of days back on the court.
