The Phoenix Mercury dropped a heartbreaker Thursday, falling 92-89 to the Indiana Fever.

Mercury drop must-win game to fever despite Alyssa Thomas performance

Phoenix led by double digits multiple times in the game, but it was the efforts of Kelsey Mitchell in a frenetic fourth quarter that led Indiana to the win.

The Mercury were led by Alyssa Thomas, who finished with 22 points, six rebounds and seven assists on the night.

Mitchell led all scorers with 29 points on 10-of-22 shooting and on the Phoenix side, Kahleah Copper tied Thomas’ team-high with 22 points. Ultimately, the Fever made too many plays down the stretch, punctuated by the layup from Mitchell that put them ahead for good.
