The Phoenix Suns are attempting to build a contender the right way, working around financial constraints to build a team around franchise player Devin Booker.
Suns look to carve out championship window in dangerous west
This offseason has been a step in the right direction as they’ve retained key members with re-signings, brought in outside talent, and sewed up the future with a contract extension for Dillon Brooks.
Brooks is the latest of a few Suns players whose contract aligns with Booker’s, as all run through the 2029-30 season.
That timeline would suggest that the franchise is angling to win with Booker at some point during the life of his contract, while focusing on the development of young players like Rasheer Fleming, Khaman Maluach and Koa Peat.
Given where the Suns presently stand, PHNX Suns takes a look at this four-year window in relation to the rest of the Western Conference by comparing championship windows based on their respective blends of top and up-and-coming talent. Is it time for the Suns yet?
