Ghost’s 4 points in 3 games is catching the eye for trade bait too. Hopefully GMBA can convince another GM that Ghost has recaptured his 17-18 form and flip him for picks/prospects. I’m thinking… a second rounder?

He has been effective on the power play.

I wouldn’t be mad to see him stick around for next season. He’s signed at a reasonable rate and lord knows we’ll need the bodies. Having him as a second-pairing offensive defenseman is pretty solid. Even if we are rebuilding, having some competent guys in the lineup is important, especially if we anticipate players like Hayton, Soderstrom, and maybe even Guenther making next year’s roster full-time (let alone who else we draft next spring).

If there’s a saving grace…I don’t think anyone thought Hutton was gonna be a solution in net beyond the rebuild…but man is he off to a rough start this season. Good to see Kells continuing the tradition of shredding the blues, hopefully that will help boost his confidence. Definitely said what I was thinking about Chychrun though…my only thought is maybe they are giving him more defensive zone stuff so he can get better there?

I’m going to dig in on it some more.

Hutton was terrible in net, but the player that consistently caught my eye was Dzingle. He missed his assignment consistently and when he tried to be a hero he passed to the Blues. He could use a view from the press box. #painforshane #wrongforwright

He did not have a good night.

I saw Schmaltz getting knocked off the puck all night. And he can’t seem to finish when he has chances. Am I seeing things?

Just to try and keep our hopes up. I’ll point out that the yotes rebuild is set-up perfectly to mirror the Leafs from 2014 on. I know the Leafs havent wont in the playoffs but I would take the perennial playoff team any day. Here is how they are the same… Reilly = Chycrun now. Nylander is hopefully selected already in Guenther. The next two years are critical. Draft high and get a Marner + Matthews (need that lottery luck for once). But Marner was 4th overall so we also need to make the right selections even if lottery doesnt go our way. Now the big one… Tavares homecoming will be the Matthews homecoming for the yotes. After that, you fill the rest of your team with later round picks and free agency. but the core re-build plan should be modelled after Toronto IMO.

I like this take. It would be cool to cover franchise centers.

Was thinking the same thing last night, where is Chychrun on the power play, even on the second unit, he seemed not in the right spot. Also, it looked like St. Louis was in a diamond and favoring Chychrun’s side on the penalty kill. I didn’t notice that diamond against the first unit.
