Excellent article. My two favorite subjects. Sports and leadership.
It’s probably different at the college level but at the high school level the kids could tell who had genuine passion and enthusiasm for the sport.
Uncompromising enthusiasm and love for a sport rubs off.
On the other hand when coaches come in and make it known that they are more concerned about their athletes becoming astrosurgeons, that they are there to help them become better citizens and successful blah blah….that rubs off too…it’s called confusion.
I only coached 7 years but went from not having enough athletes to make a team to 3 state finals.
Leadership is primary and decisive.
Genuine and uncompromising passion and enthusiasm for a sport is irresistible and rubs off on young minds.
Thank you for this article.

I wonder if Lindenwood has always been NCAA.. They used to bring a strong contingent of athletes up to Gladstein Fieldhouse at Indiana University for indoor track.
I thought at one time they were NAIA.
GCU was NAIA for a long time… they were unbeatable.

Good write up Craig! Clear that Powers and Company are building something’ special at the Mullet.
If you have not already, catch an ASU game there, great experience!

Great article! You should adjust the headline to match Greg’s last quote in the article.

Holy that last quote, he’s definitely not afraid to put people in their place to defend his role. He has wholeheartedly earned every bit of saying that quote. I cant wait to see ASU be able to get top level recruits with the Mullett as an added attraction the next 2-3 years, and see Powers future success building literally and figuratively ASU’s program from the ground up.

Also, would love to see Doan be the guy that leads this team in his junior or senior year to a deep NCAA tournament run!
