Arizona Baseball’s season is over at the hands of Louisville as the Wildcats drop their second game in has many tries in Omaha, 8-3.
Just like the previous game, Tony Pluta and the bullpen couldn’t hold onto the Cats’ late-inning lead with the baseball gods not doing Arizona any favors either. The loss to Coastal Carolina was in large part due to a blooper off the end of the bat landing on the foul line and a real deja vu moment occurred with a similar base knock resulting in 2 RBI and a Louisville 4-3 lead in the 8th inning.
Star hitters Mason White and Brendan Summerhill just didn’t have it in this one and Arizona’s storybook season comes to an end in the College World Series.
What went wrong in this one? What will the roster look like next season with lots of turnover at the top of the Wildcats’ lineup? Does Chip Hale deserve an extension from Arizona Athletics and AD Desireé Reed-Francois?
