The Arizona Wildcats reach bowl eligibility for the first time under head coach Brent Brennan.

The Arizona Wildcats defeated the Kansas Jayhawks in their homecoming game 24-20. This victory pushed the Wildcats past the six-win benchmark required to make a bowl game. Arizona’s bowl appearance this season will be the first for head coach Brent Brennan since joining the program last year. They were able to cap off the victory with a game-winning rushing score from Portland State transfer Quincy Craig. Craig exploded for two massive touchdowns. The Wildcats now fully control their bowl destiny.

Fifita rewriting history

Noah Fifita is now tied for the all-time lead in career passing touchdowns with Nick Foles and Willie Tuitama with 67.

Saturday’s contest was not his cleanest as he was more inaccurate than usual. A couple of his throws were nearly intercepted but he did enough to help get the win.

Next week against Cincinatti, Fifita is expected to break the record and with another year of eligibility up his sleeve, Fifita could put this record out of reach if he stays healthy.

Arizona Going Bowling With Brent BRennan

Last year was a disaster for the program in year one of the Brennan era, with the Cats winning just four games. Brennan accepted that the result was unacceptable and took full responsibility.

In the off-season coach Brennan made sweeping changes to his roster and staff that now have seemingly paid off.

Saturday’s game was a big opportunity for Brennan. It was the homecoming game, their first shot at bowl eligibility this season and their best chance to beat an opponent for the remainder of the year when looking at the strengths of the remaining teams on the schedule.

The Wildcats could easily be 8-1 right now and be talking college football playoff. Brennan’s new “Redline” motto has clearly gotten through to the players and to a man they all seem to love playing under him. Slowly but surely, Brennan is winning people over and it could not come at a better time.

Arizona is currently projected for a variety of bowl games. The LA Bowl, the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl and the Sun Bowl are just some they could potentially play in.

How Far Can Arizona Go?

Arizona certainly controls their own destiny. Next up they have Cincinatti on the docket before facing Baylor and Arizona State to wrap up the Big 12 season. The Wildcats’ remaining games are practically coin flips considering how good they are playing and the volatility of the Big 12 conference. Arizona can potentially end the season with 9-10 wins if they play to the level they are capable of playing.

Who would have thought that pre-season? Probably Brennan.
