Cameron Holmes, younger brother of Daron Holmes II, has committed to the University of Arizona. Holmes is a borderline 5-star recruit and the 4th best player in the state of Arizona. Listed as the 33rd highest ranked player in the 2026 class per 247 sports, Holmes is the first commit to Arizona for next season’s class. Lloyd was able to out-duel North Carolina and Dayton for this commitment. Many suspected Holmes may end up a Flyer as that is where his brother DaRon spent three seasons.
What Cameron Holmes Brings To Tucson
Cameron Holmes is a 6-foot-6-inch small forward with a 6-foot-9-inch wingspan who is a connector on the court. His high IQ jumps off the screen when watching his tape. He is a good spot up shooter, good athlete and a player that can mold his game to the scheme of whatever team he is playing on.
Holmes has a very well-rounded game. He is willing to do whatever it takes to help his team win. He’s a lefty forward with a really high motor that results in many positive hustle plays for his team. Holmes is also a very confident player, playing the game with tons of attitude, never afraid to let his matchup know that he has their number.
This is the first commit for Arizona’s 2026 class that again has extremely high potential with interest from 5-star recruits Caleb Holt and Cameron Williams.
What This Means For Arizona
A perimeter player that crashes the boards hard is just what what Tommy Lloyd’s group will need next season as the current star-studded roster is surely going to see some overhaul. Koa Peat, Jaden Bradley and more high usage players for Arizona are likely to depart for the NBA or otherwise. Wing players like Dwyane Aristode or Ivan Kharchenkov may return for another collegiate season but nothing is guaranteed.
Holmes is slated to be a featured freshman on next year’s Arizona Wildcats team. Rumors are swirling that he may end up staying more than one season in Tucson similar to how his brother played multiple years at Dayton. Cameron Holmes is a very high-level talent but is not the same caliber of recruit that say a Peat was at this time.
Holmes spoke to The Twin Takes Podcast about his reverence for the historic Arizona recruit Koa Peat.

What’s Next For Tommy Lloyd’s 2026 Class And Beyond
The 2025 class could go down in history as one of the best and deepest freshman classes of all-time at Arizona if they fulfill their potential in the 2025-26 season, but the 2026 class if constructed properly could end up right there with them. With the commitment of Holmes, the first domino has fallen. Plus, there are some other noteworthy names currently rumored to be on their way to Tucson.
Caleb Holt is the No. 1 player in Florida and a member of Lloyd’s U19 National Team for the USA. Holt is listed as “Warmer” in regard to his Arizona recruitment on 247 Sports’ website. Lloyd’s connection with Holt is a huge advantage in this recruitment.
Cameron Williams is another in-state star prospect. Williams is currently linked with Arizona, Duke and Texas, and is ranked as the No. 1 overall player in the state of Arizona and No. 4 overall player in his class.
