Could an Arizona state senate bill force ASU to change the Sparky mascot?

The ASU Sun Devils could potentially find themselves needing to change the Sparky mascot. Senate bill 1279 would prohibit the display of “satanic memorials, statues, altars or displays, or any other method of representing or honoring Satan” on public property in Arizona. With that said, are Sparky and Arizona State exempt from the conversation? Would ASU go back to the Bulldogs? Plus Bobby Hurley’s Sun Devils are looking to stop their Pac-12 skid. Can Frankie Collins and company get the job done against Colorado?
