I am a Chicago-born Coyotes beat writer. You must forgive my cynical and casual baseball fandom. The Cubs and White Sox have conditioned this response.

While my grandmother tried to ignite my fandom by taking me to countless games at the temple that is Wrigley Field, and while my uncle tried to convince me that the gritty South Siders were more worthy of my attention than the trendy Cubs, neither team did enough to cement my support throughout my childhood, adolescence and young adult years. 

To date, each team has won one World Series title in my lifetime — the Cubs in 2016; the White Sox in 2005 — and one title in the past 100-plus years. That's not just bad luck. That's bad ow...
