Yotes at 5v5 last night according to NST – Shots For vs Against 31/22; Scoring Chances For vs Against 38/18 – High Danger Chances – 14!!!!/3.

All situations Yotes ended with 3.3 xGf vs 1.93 xGa

Score was UGLY, but I don’t think (and the fancy stats back it up) that they played too bad.

Timmins had the bad turnover that starts the rush for goal 3, but I liked his game. Kells jumped out, he looked really good. Chych was borderline dominant offensively just didn’t get some bounces.

All in all, just 1 game but not as doom and gloom as the score suggests

For what it’s worth, Bear stated as much. The Coyotes really didn’t play as badly as the score indicated. Okay, except for perhaps one player in particular.
Interesting that most of the other games in the league were high scoring as well – a lot of goalie-rust to go around I suppose.

Not sure if GMBA:
– remembers Hutton’s good playing as the Blues backup in years past and ignored his bad play with Buffalo
or
– took his bad play to Buffalo to heart and is the secret weapon to ensuring last place in the league.

Jeez, he was awful, yeah there were defensive issues, but how many wide open shots did he miss? How many times did he go too far out of the net and get out of position?

Yeah, its only one game, but that was world class awful.

That last point reminds me of the Rabids and the interesting mix of Soccer and Hockey cultures. My personal hope would be to embrace that and introduce fan activities that encourages fan singing chants and such. But you definitely nail the bigger point…make the atmosphere truly unique. I can watch the game anywhere and probably have a better view at home…give the people a reason to want to be at the arena to watch it.

I couldn’t go into that arena with the canon.
I can remember the story about General Patton slapping that soldier suffering from shell shock back in WW2.
Turns out shell shock is caused by the loud explosions that some people ( like me) suffer from based on the concussive effects on the inner ear.
Some have that problem, some don’t depending on your luck.
Ulysses S Grant didn’t have that problem at all.
He was seen writing dispatches while artillery was falling all around him.
An artillery explosion raining branches from a tree fell all around him and he never stopped puffing on his cigar and writing his dispatched during the Wilderness campaign of 1864.
As cruel fate would happen, for 12 years I was an Armor Officer and my guys used to delight in watching me jump as they’d send a round down range without telling me they were going to do it.. they thought that was funny.
And that’s what I think about when I think about that Columbus cannon.
I’m from around there, ran my best marathon there and wouldn’t go to a game there because of that cannon.

New tradition: after every Coyotes’ goal, we launch cacti from t-shirt cannons. What could go wrong?

If they are going to move Kessel, they are going to have to retain nearly all of the salary, right? No need to take a bad contract that has term back, hold the current salary of Kessel and get another pick and gain another $7M in space for next season.

Father Time is knocking quickly for a player who is not as fit as his teammates, constantly battling minor to mid level injuries and is a wildcard while being a minus player at every stop along the way.

No. Kessel’s $5M signing bonus has already been paid. He’s only due $1M for the rest off the season in actual salary. The rest of that cap hit you see is salary retained by Toronto in his first trade.
