Glad Ladd is getting another shot and is making the most of it.

A “mental skills coach.” Sounds a lot like a therapist without the label. Suppose that makes it an easier pill to swallow for some.

Great article, Craig. Hard not to root for a guy who has quietly put in the work to get back in the league once he has been sent down to the AHL. I think his game has been on a steady upward trajectory since the beginning of the season.

If you go back to the offseason, the best bet for “Last ever former Thrasher to play in the NHL” would have been Evander Kane by a wide margin. A few months later and here we are with Andrew Ladd as a surprise dark horse candidate and Kane without a contract. The only others left are Bogosian and Wheeler.

I really like these articles about pro athletes at the end of their careers.
AE Houseman always comes to mind: “ The time you won your town the race; they chaired you through the marketplace “
It’s not really sad because all these athletes have achieved more than 99.9% of all other athletes in their sport, not that, that makes them feel any better.
I’ve always thought they should train these guys to see their futures after their sport and money management.
Good article!

ladd is a great head in the room and might be useful next year when the coyotes play at veterans to help the team get through a trashy arena
