Craig… a lot of us noted Artem Duda isn’t on the development camp roster. Any idea what’s up with that?

The oft discussed Russian issue.

The Yotes just made a huge investment in this kid. And I’m really curious what their plan is for this asset, given the wild situation impacting Ivan Fedotov right now.

Given what happened Ivan Fedotov (same organization as Duda) is there a sense of fear/urgency to “save” Duda? I’m asking because I’m worried about him. The Fedotov story is terribly concerning.

It feels like drafting Duda is taking some responsibility for him. Ivan Fedotov signing with the Flyers contributed to what happened to him. That’s scary.

– Is Artem Duda currently under contract for next season with Red Army or any other club in Russia?

– Is he free to leave Russia, or is he stuck in-country for fear of being kidnapped, detained, drugged, and shipped off to some far-flung military post against his will?

– Are the Coyotes actively working toward getting him out of Russia? Are they focused on North America or somewhere in Europe?

– Is some European league outside of Russia an option for Duda?

– Is there any team that owns Duda’s CHL rights? (Shane Doan is part owner of the Kamloops Blazers – could they be a fit?)

– What non-CHL options are available to him in North America? ASU? Tucson?

Thanks!

Do you know if the new Russian draftees on other NHL teams will also be missing their development camps this week?

Also, was Duda at the Bell Centre in Montreal for the draft event like many other Russians? We missed it when Duda — and a couple other players — was drafted because the NHL Network was having technical difficulties ….

It’s not unusual for a Russian taken out of the first round, he may not have been able to get over in such a short time after being drafted. I’m pretty certain Ilya Fedotov wasn’t at development camp last year either.

An awful lot has changed in a year. A year ago nobody was worried their prospect would sign a contract only to be arrested, injected with mystery substances and disappeared to some secret military base in the arctic.

Doan was at the draft, was he there not under contract?

Any updates on negotiations with Crouse? Some in Canadian media (I know, I know…) have said they think he’s going to be traded.

Thanks Craig, I really hope Shane Doan continues in his role. Also would love to see Logan Cooley on the show/podcast at some point.

Everything depends on the Tempe arena deal. The players understandably not wanting to play at the ASU arena now, Doan a question mark where they’re shouldn’t be one..
By the time an arena is built, many of the current players won’t be here and many of us older STH’s may not be able to go either.
It will all look a little different if Tempe gives us a little hope anyway. Hope it is soon.

Is this the first time Ilya Fedotov has been here for a post-draft development camp or preseason rookie camp? I don’t remember him being at either last year after he was drafted.

Also, any word that he may play in North America next season?
