Great mailbag, Craig. To paraphrase a note from an Athletic article ‘Carter Hutton is the goalie you sign when you’re in full tank mode’. If he doesn’t get his act together Armstrong has to take action. On a positive note, Vejmelka just might be much better than expected.

Honestly surprised at the number of people dumping on Tourigny already. Three games into a season icing one of the worst rosters we’ve seen in the NHL in some time. Sure, a blowout loss to Columbus and another to Buffalo (who are somehow 3-0) aren’t acceptable, but even this lowly roster isn’t going to continue losing in such a pathetic fashion. But let’s be real, Armstrong brought him in to help the young guys develop, not with an emphasis on winning as many games as possible.

Aside from wanting to tank, why would they bother bringing Chucky back? He’s as one-dimensional as Kessel with about half the talent.

“Our general manager also tells me that he would love to do a Coyotes game-watch party. We just have to find a location to do so.”
Sources tell me Craig has a nice back yard!!!! Brats on the grill with ketchup!!!!!!!

Also, is it standard practice with most teams that injured players aren’t available to the media? Is there any rhyme/reason to that?

Am I over analyzing your wording… “Announcement forthcoming” “Clarity on arena situation soon..” You seem more certain than I have heard on the podcast…maybe some details that you cant share just yet…I’ll hope thats it.

Boy, I’ll bet Yandel and Phil have worked their way into a decent retirement!
Based upon that 10 year, 82 game chart.
That’s fantastic!

Thanks Craig, I appreciate you! Shame that the ownership is not willing to speak with the fans but I understand putting a guy like XG in front of the camera. That guy is more polished that military dress boots. Too bad he has such an oily exterior.

Yeah, with XG I look for the specifics and boil his statements down to verbs. It’s sort of like reading between the lines with diplomats. The presentation is always a little too Vegas-ish. We’ve been kicked around as a fan base for so long that a sunny disposition just doesn’t go very far. To be fair, “gritty realism” isn’t going to play well either. This isn’t The Wire. I think I’d settle for “grim determination”, and looking at his body of work so far that seems to sum up their attitude.

Did you just watch a Chernobyl documentary? You fit those references in a couple times…

Thanks! I was thinking Dallas would be a good partner for AZ to meet in Mexico. I have a pretty strict “Not going back to Mexico City” rule but I’d consider it for a Coyotes game.

I still prefer a coyotes insider. The print and comments section was more friendly to the eyes and I remember getting an email indicating that one of your articles, put out in machine gun fashion and enjoyed thoroughly had been published.
Also the association with gambling or drinking and all that.
Don’t get me wrong I come from a sport where the vast majority of the best live off pizza and beer.
It’s just me. I am squarely only interested in the athletic things about sports.
How to train, training stories, great plays, best efforts
I like when Petey dies the “ X”’s and “O”’s things but don’t care about the players personal lives, dogs or favorite shows.
Keep up the GREAT work Craig!
Knee surgeries from training like a friggin animal have prevented me from going to games this year ( just got out of my 2nd surgery yesterday. I hope to put in for a season ticket next year IF I can purchase an aisle seat on the front row!
Most fun spectator sport I ever watched hands down!

I guess playing in Belarus is now out of the question. Let’s get a game in Mexico City or Switzerland in October so the Coyotes can be the “home” team for a couple of games during the eternal road trip which seems likely to start the 22-23 season until the ASU arena is ready to host the NHL.

Thank you to you and the people who asked the questions I had as well. Tiny players are some of my favorites so I was glad to see that Sean Dhooge will continue with ASU. I’m hoping that Chychrn can get what he needs this summer, whether it’s a desirable trade or a mending of his relationship with the team. I know it’s a business but it’s very hard on players who are young, have given their all and thought they were secure to be thrown into the mixer of trade rumors, over evaluation, and attitudes/emotions assigned to them that may not reflex reality. It’s like going through a divorce, even though you know it’s coming it still sucks to go through all the machinations involved….especially in a very public way. I’m very happy with GMBA who says what he means, means what he says and has the skill to achieve his/Coyote goals. One last note. I give props to the Murello family for providing a jet for Kessel to see the birth of his daughter and for the Macelli family to be present for his NHL debut. Pure class.

Very sorry for the loss of your dog.
I can remember my late wife driving her parakeet to an animal ER and then driving back with a dead bird.
It was an astonishing scene, her crying as I was burying it.
That’s why I’ll never get a pet.
