Very interesting
If we are lucky enough to get the new arena, I hope they learn from this. ( entrance opening up below concourse level etc.) of course that would mean more escalators or elevators.
I’m sure the piping in the floors could be constructed similarly as well.
I can just remember the rush of cold air as I stood at the door and the signal was given that “ the gates are open!!!!!”
The ticket folks would open those doors and that rush of cold air!!!! And the smell of the arena immediately greeting you…. Hope they can replicate that although if constructed right , maybe the arena won’t have to be so cold.

I was just thinking that same thing that maybe the Coyotes should take some notes with regards to the entrance being below the concourse.

“It’s really hard and fast and it just doesn’t get soft late in the period.” What a quote!

Craig, I’m really surprised we didn’t get a piece on showing us the new locker rooms, who’s absence caused so much consternation with the fans north of the border the first few games.
Regarding the ice, it’s funny, you can see it when you are at the arena. It just looks better, especially right after a scraping when it’s refrozen. Would love to do a few laps on it someday.

Great piece. I’ve often wondered about all the factors that go into good ice.
I imagine the boards will loosen up a little over time, I hope they spend the necessary moolah to keep them so accurate without the secret spots that will carom a puck out in front of the net.

Great read, some near variables I wouldn’t have considered
