The Phoenix Suns have many questions surrounding them headed into the 2025-26 season to come, with many centered around the pairing of Devin Booker and Jalen Green.
After a report that Jalen Green will be the Phoenix Suns’ starting point guard this season, Gerald Bourguet and Stephen PridGeon-Garner felt it was a perfect time to reopen the “Point Book” debate, and decide whether Jalen Green or Devin Booker should be running point!
On the latest PHNX Suns Podcast, those two give their thoughts on how the Suns’ offense should function with its two combo guards. Does Devin Booker’s multiple years now as the engine of an offensive attack and his efficiencies in doing so provide an advantage? Do the multiple depths of defensive capital that are spent focusing on him make more sense for him at the helm of an attack? Or is he better-suited as an off-ball piece that is better-suited playing off someone else initiating things?
Does Jalen Green’s downhill prowess, and the upbeat tempo of play that comes with the ball being in his hands, make more sense for the pace the Suns have communicated they desire to play at?
One thing about “Point Book” that makes a lot more sense than putting the ball in Green’s hands full time is that we have a true proof of concept to base thoughts off, which has worked on the playoffs stage as well.
Additionally, on this episode, Gerald and Stephen take a look at Koby Brea’s game in detail from college to the NBA Summer League circuit, with insight from Suns coach Jordan Ott, GM Brian Gregory, and Kentucky coach Mark Pope!
Can Brea carve out an early niche with the Suns on the NBA level and quickly become converted to an NBA-scale contract? Will he have to spend time down in the G-League to fine-tune skills and incrementally work his way up the NBA level?
Remains to be seen, but what is undeniable is that he has NBA size at the 2-guard position, and an NBA-level skill in his repertoire already in 3-point shooting — on range.
Lastly, Booker or Brea? Stephen PridGeon-Garner leads the charge in Trivia Time.
