The Arizona Diamondbacks’ season-high five-game winning streak came to an end Friday night in a 3-2 loss to the Colorado Rockies. Once again, Michael Soroka gave Arizona exactly what it needed, continuing his dominance at Chase Field with another quality start while lowering his home ERA below 2.00. But the D-backs offense struggled to deliver timely hits, and the usually dependable bullpen faltered late as Colorado erased Arizona’s slim lead.
The biggest concern, however, may be the status of Lourdes Gurriel Jr., who exited in the seventh inning with left hamstring tightness after making a terrific defensive play in left field. We have more from the clubhouse on Gurriel’s injury, Soroka’s impressive outing, the bullpen’s late collapse, and the unbelievable story of a fan catching home run balls from the same player on back-to-back nights at Chase Field.
