In each of my first two years on the Diamondbacks' beat, I have found myself dreading the transition from spring training to the regular season.

Why? It is not because I love baseball games that mean nothing, outrageous concessions prices or driving more than 80 miles a day, an unavoidable feature of the baseball writer's schedule during spring training. (Surely, I do not envy the Grapefruit League beat writers whose travel schedules are far more unpleasant.)

It's because I love March weather in Arizona and I love Salt River Fields, the Diamondbacks' spring training facility that just so happens to be the best one in the sport, Cactus League or otherwise.
