Big 12 Power Rankings for Week 10

Happy Tuesday! I hope your week is off to a good start.

I’ll get to the Big 12 power rankings below, but first, pretty darn cool story out of Arizona State, as junior golfer Fifa Laopakdee became the first golfer from Thailand to win the Asia-Pacific Amateur, and as a result has qualified for both the 2026 British Open and Masters! Laopakdee did it in impressive fashion, rallying from a six-shot deficit to win in a third playoff hole.

Make sure you scroll down to today’s tip of the cap, because it comes from a pretty legit account on X.

I wanted to share one excerpt from a story on the official PGA Tour website, because it’s a pretty cool moment:

“Laopakdee said he had told Arizona State coach Matt Thurmond, ‘I’ll win this event and be the first Thai amateur to play in the Masters.’

He looked into the camera after it was over and said, ‘Coach, I did it!’”

On to the show!

Big 12 Football Power Rankings: Week 10

Big 12 Power Rankings Week 10
Cincinnati Bearcats running back Evan Pryor (6) celebrates after scoring a touchdown in the first quarter of a NCAA men’s football game between the Cincinnati Bearcats and Baylor Bears, Saturday, Oct. 25, 2025, at Nippert Stadium in Cincinnati.

Welp, that was not ideal.

The Sun Devils’ crushing defeat to Houston on Saturday put the Big 12 conference title very much in doubt, and Arizona State has tumbled in the standings as a result. It’s not alone, though — Iowa State, yet another favorite this preseason, tumbled even farther after suffering its third consecutive loss.

And so goes Big 12 football — consistently inconsistent and oftentimes stunningly up-for-grabs.

Here are your Week 10 matchups:

Saturday, Nov. 1

  • West Virginia at No. 22 Houston, 9 am, FS1
  • UCF at Baylor, 9 am, ESPNU
  • Arizona State at Iowa State, 10 am, TNT
  • No. 13 Texas Tech at Kansas State, 12:30 pm, FOX
  • Arizona at Colorado, 4 pm, FS1
  • No. 17 Cincinnati at No. 24 Utah, 7:15 pm, ESPN

Big 12 Power Rankings, Week 10: The Top Rounds Into Form

1 — No. 10 BYU (8-0, 5-0 Big 12): No surprise here. The Cougars overcame a sluggish start to topple the Cyclones in Ames, and have now been rewarded with a bye week. Buckle up for Week 11, though, as the Cougars and the Red Raiders will face each other in a clash for the ages.
Last Week’s Result: W, 41-27 at Iowa State
Last Week’s Ranking: 1

2 — No. 17 Cincinnati (7-1, 5-0): The Bearcats have stunned all season long, and remain the only other unbeaten team in the conference with a mildly forgiving schedule remaining. Another big test remains, though, as Cincy heads to Salt Lake City to face the No. 24 Utes on Saturday.
Last Week’s Result: W, 41-20 vs. Baylor
Last Week’s Ranking: 2

3 — No. 22 Houston (7-1, 4-1): The Cougars continue to silence the doubters. Houston rolled into Tempe and pulled out a win, albeit against a shorthanded Sun Devils team. Even so, Houston appears to be primed to run the table with games remaining against West Virginia, UCF, TCU and Baylor remaining.
Last Week’s Result: W, 24-16 at No. 24 Arizona State
Last Week’s Ranking: 5

4 – No. 13 Texas Tech (7-1, 4-1): Tech cruised through Okie State last weekend, and now it needs to ensure it doesn’t overlook Kansas State this weekend while anticipating No. 10 BYU’s arrival on Nov. 8.
Last Week’s Result: W, 42-0 at Oklahoma State
Last Week’s Ranking: 4

5 — No. 24 Utah (6-2, 3-2): Colorado was a nice draw after Utah lost to BYU in Week 8, but we’re about to learn a lot this weekend as No. 17 Cincinnati comes to town.
Last Week’s Result: W, 53-7 vs. Colorado
Last Week’s Ranking: 6

6 – No. 24 Arizona State (5-3, 3-2): The Sun Devils maintain an outside chance to play for the title, but they need a ton of help for that pipe dream to come to fruition.
Last Week’s Result: L, 24-16 vs. Houston
Last Week’s Ranking: 3

7 — Kansas State (4-4, 3-2): What a bizarre season for the Wildcats, who lost to the Cyclones in Ireland on the first game of the season and then Army two weeks later. Yet, here they are, over .500 in the conference with a tiebreaker over TCU.
Last Week’s Result: W, 42-17, at Kansas
Last Week’s Ranking: 12

8 – TCU (6-2, 3-2): The Horned Frogs have been a tough team to figure out all season, but to their credit they have won two straight and have a bye this week before hosting Iowa State on 11/8.
Last Week’s Result: W, 23-17 at West Virginia
Last Week’s Ranking: 8

9 – Iowa State (5-3, 2-3): Iowa State gets the benefit of the doubt here, but the Cyclones are in a free fall after winning five straight to start the season.
Last Week’s Result: L, 41-27 vs. No. 11 BYU
Last Week’s Ranking: 7

Best of the Rest:

10 — Baylor (4-4, 2-3):
Last Week’s Result: L, 41-20 at No. 21 Cincinnati
Last Week’s Ranking: 9

11 — Arizona (4-3, 1-3)
Last Week’s Result: Idle
Last Week’s Ranking: 10

12 — Kansas (4-4, 2-3 )
Last Week’s Result: L, 42-17 vs. Kansas State
Last Week’s Ranking: 11

13 — UCF (4-3, 1-3)
Last Week’s Result: Idle
Last Week’s Ranking: 13

14 — Colorado (3-5, 1-4)
Last Week’s Result: L, 53-7 at Utah
Last Week’s Ranking: 14

15 — West Virginia (2-6 0-5)
Last Week’s Result: L, 23-17 vs. TCU
Last Week’s Ranking: 15

16 — Oklahoma State (1-7, 0-5)
Last Week’s Result: L, 42-0 at No. 14 Texas Tech
Last Week’s Ranking: 16

Not Jazzed Up: The Suns dropped their third straight game last night, falling to the Jazz 138-134 in overtime. Phoenix forced the extra frame in dramatic fashion, as Mark Williams’ tip-shot with 1.9 seconds left knotted things at 124, but it was not meant to be in a back-and-forth overtime.

Phoenix trailed by seven with just 23.7 seconds to play, but staged a late rally to hang in there. The Suns open a three-game home stand tomorrow night against Memphis.
