Royce O’Neale’s last-second 3-pointer proved to be the difference as the Phoenix Suns earned a massive 113-110 win over the Los Angeles Lakers to make things interesting in the Western Conference standings.
It was a game of runs, as Phoenix trailed by as many as 13 and led by as many as 12 points in the thriller. Phoenix saw contributions from across the board as O’Neale (13 points) was one of four players to finish in double figures, a group led by Grayson Allen’s 28 points, while Collin Gillespie finished with 21 and Ryan Dunn added 10 points.
The Suns’ second unit re-energized the team in the third frame and Luka Doncic’s 41 points, eight rebounds and eight assists weren’t enough for the Lakers to get a win. The Suns (34-26) are now just one game back of the Lakers (34-24) in the standings and own the season series as they’ve won three of the first four matchups.
PHNX Suns postgame is back to explain just how big of a win this was for the Suns and what it means in the grand scheme. Follow the show: @PHNX_Suns, @ErikRuby, @GilMcGregor_, @Espo and @StephenPG3!
