Phoenix Suns reveal new take on iconic sunburst jerseys

The Phoenix Suns have revealed new uniforms for the 2023-24 NBA season with an updated take on the iconic Sunburst jerseys

The Phoenix Suns are gearing up for a new season with a revamped roster and renewed championship hopes. It’s only fitting they’ll be entering the 2023-24 NBA campaign with a pair of new jerseys as well.

On Tuesday morning, the Suns unveiled their purple Nike Icon and white Association Edition uniforms that will debut for the upcoming season. The jerseys are a modern take on Phoenix’s iconic sunburst uniforms that became instant classics back in the early 1990s, but they also incorporate elements from the team’s prior Icon and Association Edition uniforms that began in 2017.

Here are Bradley Beal and Devin Booker modeling the new jerseys in all their glory, with additional photos below:

“The sunburst is an iconic design that is one of the most popular among Suns fans; it represents some of the most defining moments in our team’s history,” said Suns CEO Josh Bartelstein. “These new uniforms seamlessly blend the nostalgia of the past with the excitement of the future as we begin the next great era of Suns basketball.”

Both sets feature the recognizable sunburst streaking across the jersey, with the word “Suns” embroidered in white above the stitched drop shadow numbers. As the team describes it, the shorts are an “ode to the past” with their asymmetrical design, “Phoenix” lettering and streak pattern. The Suns’ primary logo is also at the center of the belt line.

Both of these new additions will anchor Phoenix’s uniform rotation for future seasons as well. This year, they’ll join the all-black Statement uniform that was introduced last season, as well as an unreleased City Edition uniform that will be unveiled later on this year.

The new uniforms were designed by Centercourt Studios, the in-house creative department of the Suns, in partnership with Nike. Nike’s recognizable swoosh emblem is on the upper right shoulder, while the logo for PayPal — the official payments partner of the Suns through 2026 and the team’s first jersey sponsor in 2018 — is on the upper left shoulder.

The rising sunburst design ranked the highest based on feedback from fans who were surveyed on previous uniforms.

These brand new uniforms will be available for purchase at the team shop at the Footprint Center or online. Fans can also enter for a chance to win a jersey through a virtual jersey toss presented by PayPal.
