I may be suffering from recency bias, but in 23 years covering the Coyotes I can’t remember a development camp roster or prospect pool with this much depth and intrigue. There have been years in the past where the top handful of players was still promising, but the list fell off quickly. This year, I could have written a dozen player features off of the now-concluded camp yet still not have covered all of the interesting stories — and that was without 2023 first-round picks Dmitri Simashev and Daniil But in camp.

There will be time for those stories down the road in my monthly prospect reports. In keeping with a recent and now annual tradition, it’s time for my Coyotes prospect pipeline rankings. To be clear, I am not qualified to rank prospects. Few reporters are, though many display such hubris. I’m no Chris Peters or Corey Pronman, so instead of ranking them myself, this is my general sense of how the Coyotes feel about them based on numerous conversations.

This year and for the first time, I have added to the overall list by breaking the rankings down by positions. Keep in mind that there are often fine lines between some players and these lists can shift over the course of a season based on development.
