Seattle Sounders up next as Phoenix Rising eyes Open Cup challenge

After dispatching a mediocre Miami FC side on Saturday, it’s time for Danny Stone’s Phoenix Rising side to take on a different kind of challenge: Seattle Sounders FC.

For the first time in the club’s history, a last 16 tie in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup awaits. It’ll also be the first time since 2014, when the side was known as Arizona United, that Phoenix Rising will face Major League Soccer opposition in a competitive fixture.

Can Rémi Cabral, Panos Armenakas and Giulio Doratiotto get the job done, or will Brian Schmetzer’s Seattle side take a step closer to their fifth Open Cup title?
