What to Expect From the PHNX Cardinals Beat

Let me begin by saying that it is a distinct honor and privilege to be part of your Arizona Cardinal beat.

I’ve been fortunate to have been involved with some of the most well respected brands in sports media, including ESPN and most recently SB Nation.

However, what drew me to PHNX was both the collection of talent on each beat along with the unique and exciting way we plan to cover your favorite Valley sports teams.

For me, that team of course is the Arizona Cardinals.

My fandom with the team, like many of you, is generational as my father grew up as a staunchly committed St. Louis Football Cardinal enthusiast. From attending training camp at Illinois State back in 1973 — a school I’d eventually attend — to listening to live coverage of the NFL Draft on local St. Louis radio, the passion for “Big Red Football” runs deep in the Venerable household.

From Jim Hart, to Dan Dierdorf, Adrian Wilson to Larry Fitzgerald, these are the larger than life figures that have kept us coming back for more each and every Sunday.

The content you’ll receive here on a daily basis will be unparalleled to anything you’ve been accustomed to reading while following the team.

In the process, you’ll receive my unplugged, unbiased opinion as I hold the franchise with the longest championship draught in all of professional sports up to a standard set by the likes of Kurt Warner, Carson Palmer and now a young Kyler Murray.

Together we will celebrate what’s worth celebrating, while also highlighting the distinct shortcomings that plague the franchise.

This is not a beat written by an Arizona Cardinal “fanboy”, rather a fan simply getting the chance to cover the beat of his favorite team.

For better or worse.

I welcome you all to our Arizona Cardinal coverage here at PHNX.
